Joe-pye Weed, also called Trumpetweed, is fairly common in the Mobile area. It is usually found growing in wet ditches. Mature plants are up to nine feet tall. These plants were photographed along Jeff Hamilton Road, in West Mobile County, Alabama, in late July.

Note the two Latin names. In the past Joe-pye Weed has been placed in the Eupatorium Genus. DNA analysis suggests otherwise. At this time (2008) you may find it listed in either Eupatorium or Eupatoriadelphus.
