Pineland Hibiscus is also known as Comfortroot or as Swamp Mallow. Pineland Hibiscus blooms from June until September: the large flowers are common along roads in Mobile County. The flowers are fully open in the early morning, and tend to close latter in the day. The underside of the leaves is similar to velcro and will stick to loosely woven fabric, especially socks. These plants were photographed near Shipyard Road, in South Mobile County, Alabama, in June.

Malvaceae - Mallow family
