Partridge Berry is also called Twinflower. It is a vine that creeps along the forest floor; it does not climb. Partridge Berry is a member of the Madder family.Note that the flowers occur in pairs. Each pair of flowers results in one berry. The flowers normally have four petals. Look for Partridge Berry in hardwood forests. When not in bloom it is easily overlooked. The leaves and stems persist throughout the year, these flowering plants were photographed in mid April, near Rabbit Creek, in South Mobile County, Alabama.
