Field Pansy, also known as Johnny-Jump-Up, is a member of the Violet family. It is not as common in the Mobile area as
are some of the other violets. These plants were photographed along Baird Coxwell Road, in West Mobile County, in early
March.
As with some of the other violets, there are multiple scientific names in current use. Viola bicolor is now the official name; however most of my field guides list it as Viola rafinesquii. |
